The components of a Fortune Auto damper are sourced from all over the globe to ensure the best quality product at it’s price point. Through extensive research and development, Fortune Auto has developed a reliable and high performance shock absorber solution.
Shock dyno results primarily aid in determining hysteresis & cavitation. We also use a shock dyno for shock matching, durability tests, and confirming damper adjustments. At Fortune Auto North America, we use a shock dyno in our daily operations for all of these tests. This helps us offer the client a consistent and thoroughly tested product.
Fortune Auto's revolutionary Concave Flow Digressive piston technology allows for a zero-compromise track oriented damper that can be driven on the road.
Fortune Auto has developed a damper with an unprecedented adjustment range and ultra responsive digressive valving. Concave Flow Digressive piston shares the same technology in its 510 and Dreadnought Series Single, Double and Triple adjustable shock absorbers. Available in many applications and developed for the Road and Track.
The Concave Flow Digressive Piston allows for a Jekyll and Hyde personality. Lower spring rates can be stiffened up by using the wide damping range as an artificial spring rate, while higher spring rates feel much smoother. The large adjustment range contributes to a comfortable ride on the street and unyielding performance on the track, all with the twist of a single adjustment knob.
Digressive pistons produce a valving profile that is not straight or constant. As shaft speeds increase (thinking hitting a large bump at high speeds) the rate that damping force is created tapers off considerably. Digressive piston design exhibits low flow rate at low shaft speeds that provides a lot of resistance and control. Then the resistance rate increases when shaft speeds increase. Finally at a preset point (higher shaft speeds) the force rapidly tapers or “blows off”. This characterist
Shims are deflection disks that cover up the port holes on a piston. They regulate the fluid flow which generates the force found in a damper. “Valving” or “re-valving” of a shock is accomplished by using a variety of shims that will ultimately provide enough resistance and damping ability for a particular application. Minute differences in the shims’ diameter and thickness are very critical; just a thousandth of an inch of variation in the dimensions can change a damper’s force profile up to +
Fortune Auto teamed up with Swift springs to be our primary spring supplier on our high-performance damper systems. We elected to use Swift springs as our primary supplier because of their advanced and proprietary magnetic steel alloy called HS5 TW, while all other spring manufacturers utilize a inferior silicone chrome steel alloy. There are many advantages to Swift’s magnetic steel alloy: (1) the HS5 TW alloy is faster reacting and more compliant then traditional spring alloys which translates
Damper seals are extremely important as they are responsible for the reliability and performance of a shock absorber. Fortune Auto utilizes the highest quality seals available for modern high performance suspension systems.
